Former York Evening Press editor Liz Page has joined Archant Life as regional managing director for its north business. She has joined the company from Newsquest, where she had been managing director of York & County Press, publisher of the Evening Press, the Gazette & Herald, the York & Selby Star, thisisyork.co.uk and thisisryedale.co.uk. In her new role Liz (pictured) will be responsible for Archant Life's whole northern division, including its titles in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire and Lancashire. Archant Life managing director Johnny Hustler said: "We are delighted that Liz has decided to join us. "We believe that her skill and understanding of local media will accelerate Archant Life's growth. "I am sure that she will be particularly effective working with our editors to increase our audience." Liz, (46), was the first woman editor of the Evening Press at York, taking up the post in January 1996. She was also the first woman president of the Society of Editors in 2001, and hosted its annual conference in York.
