Five cars caught fire at a car-hire business in York around 7:10PM last night, a shed close by was also embroiled in the blaze.

The blazing business in question is Budget Rent-a-Car on Avenue Terrace, in Clifton and another similar blaze was tackled at close-by Green Cliff Drive at about 7.10pm. Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say that the blazes were not necessarily caused by arsonists but they are not ruling out the possibility. The Clifton area of York is not exactly a stranger to such incidents, especially those involving the burning of cars – though this case is slightly different to the norm as no cars were stolen first.
