CERAMICS from York Museums Trust's world-class collection are coming out of storage for a new series of exhibitions.

Celebrating Ceramics takes place at art galleries in York, Scarborough and Wakefield this autumn to showcase some of the 13,000 pieces in the York collection, which ranges from prehistoric wares to 20th century pottery.
Ceramics expert Lars Tharp, best known for his appearances on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow, has worked with the trust in selecting exhibition themes for each venue.
The shows will open at York Art Gallery, from September 17 until January 15; Scarborough Art Gallery, from September 24 until January 8; and at Wakefield Art Gallery, from September 30 until January 4.
York Art Gallery's Fired Up display will look at the development of ceramics through human history to the present day.
In Scarborough the FirePlace show will focus on vases and ornaments, from fussy Victoriana to modern minimalist.
And the Wakefield exhibition, WA Ismay – A Passion for Pots, will feature the work of prolific ceramics collector, the late Bill Ismay.
