The outer parlour
The ninth and tenth bays were also walled off to form a second or cellarer's parlour and entry to the cloister. The ninth bay has an arch in the west wall and a doorway in the east wall, and alongside the latter is a narrow loop, later blocked, through which those in charge of the entry could see what was happening in the cloister before admitting anyone to it. |
